Representatives from across ‘North Wales Sport’ (NWS) met on 6th December to commence development of their Vision and High-level strategic intent in delivering sport across the region.  This will further support the development of the full Business Case for Sport North Wales to enable Sport Wales to formally approve NWS as the long-term partner to deliver Sport North Wales across the region.  The energy and enthusiasm in bringing to life this exciting opportunity as well as consistency of themes was evident throughout the discussions and it is intended that this will be refined further in the coming weeks before being shared wider across North Wales.

The Project Board signed off the Project Initiation Document which outlines the timelines and various stages to create Sport North Wales as well as formally nominating a Board Chair and Project Sponsor in Marianne Jackson, Head of Community Development Service for Conwy County Borough Council.  Rachel Lewis, Principal Public Health Practitioner for Public Health Wales will act as Vice Chair.

To support the development of the full business case for Sport North Wales, Project Management support will be accessed for a period of three months.  Included within this will include finalising the Vision for NWS, capturing insight to inform the plan, examining options for future delivery as well as planning wider engagement with the sector.

The group also agreed to ensuring regular engagement both internally with teams in the current partners, as well as with the wider audiences across North Wales.

In the meantime, organisations should continue with business as usual for Sport Wales funded schemes and activities, continuing to build on the good practice which has already been developed.
